Brookside Village Adds New Medical Director

Located in Jasper, Indiana, Brookside Village is part of the CarDon & Associates family of senior living communities throughout the Midwest.Dr. Hopkins has been the community’s primary medical director for 19 years. After receiving his medical degree from Ross University School of Medicine in Dominica, West Indies, he completed both his internship and internal medicine residency at St. Luke’s Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri, where he also served an additional year as chief medical resident. Dr. Hopkins joined the active medical staff at Memorial Hospital in 1988. His office is located at Memorial Internal Medicine, 751 W. 9th Street in Jasper. He is board certified in internal and geriatric medicine.

Dr. Hopkins will maintain the title of Medical Director at Brookside Village, and he will specialize in long-term care while Dr. Hurst focuses on rehab and short-term treatment.

An internist with 20 years of medical practice, Dr. Hurst brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to the medical team. After graduating from Southern Illinois School of Medicine in Springfield, Illinois, he completed his residency at Providence Medical Center in Portland, Oregon. Board certified in internal medicine, Dr. Hurst was Memorial Hospital’s first hospitalist. He still works there alongside specialty physicians during inpatient treatment. His experience in this field will be a benefit to Brookside Village residents transitioning from hospitals to our community.

“We are very honored to have both of these experienced and talented physicians overseeing the care of our residents at Brookside Village,” said CarDon Chief Operating Officer Gregg Gormal. “We are confident that Dr. Hurst’s skills will complement Dr. Hopkins’ and be a vital asset to our clinical team.”
